How NOT to Make Your Business Cards

Business cards are important.  This past weekend I attended the Garlic Festival in Bennington, and asked for a business card from a gentleman selling wonderful salt scrubs.

Here's what I got:

Ignoring the fact that it's wrinkled- though that is a problem- there's so many things wrong with this card. It was clearly cut by hand, isn't centered, and has "eh" graphics.  The paper I'd barely consider cardstock (which is why it wrinkled so badly).  The website is also in need of a redo.  I was surprised to learn of his location because it's a pretty affluent area and he has a wonderful product and he seemed like a really nice guy.  Will his lack of a proper business card and website hurt his business? You betcha. Not everyone will care. He might not care. But he should. His target is young women and up. They're going to care. We tend to be visual people. If it doesn't look good, you might not try it, and then you'd miss out on those amazing salt scrubs that left my hands seriously soft.

Business cards can be made pretty cheaply on good paper- but pay for a good design.  It can only help your business.
